 1. Overview

The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) is being phased out and there is no further intake into the course. It has been replaced with the Bachelor of Teaching, a graduate course for intending Primary and Secondary teachers. Students wishing to undertake a teaching qualification in Arts or Science can enrol in a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science course followed by a graduate teacher education degree. Students wishing to undertake Music teaching can enrol in a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Teaching combined degree.

On completion of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) course graduates should be able to:

The course comprises four years of full-time study and generally includes two or three years of sequential study in a number of subject areas, depending on the course stream. Full details are contained in the 1997 Undergraduate Studies Handbook.

 4. Subjects from other faculties

Bachelor of Education (Secondary) students should note that quotas apply for some Science Faculty subjects. For advice, please contact the Education Faculty Office or refer to the relevant entry at the beginning of each subject section of this Handbook.
