Content: | Genetic and molecular basis of phenotypic variation. Genetic analysis in eukaryotes, viruses and bacteria. Nature of the genetic material. Gene structure and function. Quantitative inheritance. Behaviour of genes in populations. Techniques used in genetic analysis of microorganisms and eukaryotes. | |
Assessment: | One 3-hour written examination at the end of semester, two mid-semester short answer tests; experimental reports not exceeding 30 pages. Practical work must be completed satisfactorily before credit for the subject can be granted. | |
