619-496 Statistics Research Project

At least an H3 average in 60 points of 300-level Statistics subjects.

Objectives:

The Honours program in Statistics is designed to:

  • further the understanding of statistics across a range of theoretical and practical topics;

  • encourage the development of the abilities to think critically and independently;

  • provide an introduction to the process and practice of statistical research;

  • improve oral and written communication skills.

Content:

A supervised research project.

Assessment:

Hurdle Requirement
  • Submission of an outline of the project (up to 3 pages) by the end of July.

Assessed Items:
  • A written report by the end of second semester, not exceeding 15,000 words (90% of the mark for the research project).

  • A 30 minute talk, including a 5 minute discussion, towards the end of second semester (10% of the mark for the research project).
