Content: | Aspects of the following topics will be considered: aspects of data transmission (synchronous and asynchronous transmission, error detection and correction, and compression) and local and wide area networks (architectures, protocols, and issues). Organisational options (data and telecommunications architectures, protocols, and issues). Organisational options (data and telecommunications architectures, in-house networks, out-sourcing). Other telecommunications concepts. | |
Assessment: | End of semester written examination of up to three hours, one group project taking up to forty hours. the weighting of the assessment components will be announced at the commencement of the subject. | |
