Content:

Materials: metals and alloys; perovskites and the structures of ceramic superconductors; non-stoichiometric materials: defect structures and semiconduction; intercalation; framework materials. Processes: reactivity of ligands at metal centres; homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic cycles; reaction mechanisms; experimental techniques.

Assessment:

One 3-hour written examination at the end of Semester 1.
