606-312 Advanced Research Project (Botany)

Prerequisite/s:

A high level of achievement in at least two of 606-201, 606-202, 606-204, 606-205 or 606-206, and acceptance into this subject by the Head of School.

Corequisite/s:

At least two 300-level Botany subjects.

Timetable:

Semester 1 or 2

Contact:

80 hours practical work

Objectives:

By the end of the subject, students should:

  • Have an appreciation of the nature and requirements of research in plant science, including experimental design and analysis of data and literature.

  • Have experience in presentation of original research.

Content:

An original investigation of an approved topic in botany through observation and/or experimentation and/or a critical review of published works.

Assessment:

A written report of up to 3000 words and a seminar presentation at the end of the semester in which the project is undertaken.
