Objectives:

By the end of the honours program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology the student should have:

  • acquired the ability to define research problems in biochemistry and to propose and test appropriate hypotheses;

  • developed the ability to think critically and independently and to evaluate and analyse experimental biochemical data;

  • developed skills in the use of modern equipment and techniques currently used in biochemistry and molecular biology;

  • developed the ability to present the research results both orally and in the written form.

Content:

Subject 521-496 comprises:

A research project undertaken in close collaboration with a member of the research staff.

Assessment:

  • research project and written thesis including assessment by supervisor based on the year's work and assessment of the thesis and an oral examination by a panel of independent examiners;

  • seminar based on research work.
