Two hours of lectures a week for one semester in either third or fourth year

Content:

A selection from the following topics: basic concepts of acoustics; they study of sound waves, vibration and resonance; loudness; the harmonic series; musical intervals, scales, tuning and temperaments; construction and classification of musical instruments; concert hall and auditorium design.

Assessment:

3-hour examination paper.
