Subject Description:

The objectives are to provide students with opportunities to develop (i) an understanding of a representative range of substantive areas in psychology, (ii) an ability to read and contribute to research in at least one area of psychology and (iii) some understanding of the practice and ethics of psychology in professional settings. The content comprises five units, including one optional unit chosen from Current Issues in Quantitative; Biological; or Cognitive Psychology, and one chosen from Current Issues in; Quantitative; Developmental; or Social Psychology. There are three compulsory units: Assessment and Professional Skills; Advanced Design and Data Analysis, and Theories in Psychology.

Assessment:

For all units: either a final examination of up to two hours at the end of the year or the conclusion of the unit, or a practical report or an essay of up to 3000 words in length, or any combination of these.
