512-112 Behavioural Science (Physiotherapy)

Two hours of lectures and a 1 hour tutorial a week

Subject Description:

Students will be introduced to psychological constructs relevant to the practice of physiotherapy and to their professional development as physiotherapists. Relevant psychological theory will be presented in three syllabus areas: communicating with and assessing clients; teaching and motivating clients; physical and psychological interactions in illness and injury. The tutorial program does not replicate the content of the lectures, but provides an opportunity for discussing, reflecting on and applying concepts and issues raised in the lectures.

Assessment:

Tutorial project (10%); 2000 words (25%) and a 2.5-hour end-of-semester examination (65%).
