Objectives:

At the conclusion of the subject the student should:

  • have developed skills in research, communication and writing by the students' individual investigation of a research topic and the subsequent preparation of verbal presentations of a report.

  • have gained experience of working independently on a project,

  • have developed skills in planning, executing and managing a project,

Content:

A major project of 104 hours over two semesters including supervised individual and group discussions, individual investigation and experimental work, preparation and presentation of project reports, and participation in two 2-day research seminars. This project should be considered the culmination of the education experiences within the undergraduate degree program in the Department of Geomatics. The project is designed to consolidate a range of skills which are essential in the development of a successful professional career.

Assessment:

Two reports equivalent to 20,000 words. Seminar presentations and seminar participation equivalent to not more than 25 pages. The relative weighting of the assessment components will be published at the commencement of the subject. Attendance at the two 2-day seminars is compulsory.
