This subject can only be taken in conjunction with 451-121 Geomatics Science 1C.

39 hours of practical and tutorial classes

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this subject the student should:

  • be competent in the practice of calculations required for plane surveys and setting out;

  • be familiar with, and capable of using, the computer packages for survey data reduction and plotting.

Content:

Practical exercises and tutorials involving area and volume computations, curve setting out for route surveying, automated 'field-to-finish' surveys, topographic surveys and GPS, use of computer packages for survey data reduction and plotting.

Assessment:

Not more than the equivalent of 80 pages of written assignments and reports on practical work. The relative weighting of the assessment components will be published at the commencement of the subject.
