Objectives: | At the conclusion of this subject the student should:

Content: | Plane Surveying: area and volume computations, curve setting out for route surveying, automated 'field-to-finish' surveys, topographic surveys, use of computer packages for survey data reduction and plotting. Introduction to GPS. Professional Aspects: Introduction to the geomatics profession and the different disciplines such as geodesy, cadastral surveying, engineering surveying, hydrography, mining surveying, land development, remote sensing, land and geographic information systems and photogrammetry. | |
Assessment: | Not more than three hours of written examinations and tests. Not more than the equivalent of 20 pages of essays and written reports. The relative weighting of the assessment components will be published at the commencement of the subject. | |
