Content: | Machining as a means of shaping components, chip formation and mechanics of cutting; turning and drilling operations, single point lathe tools and twist drills, prediction of force, torque power, chip flow and surface finish, computerised predictive models for machining processes; cutting fluid action and application. Non-traditional material removal processes. | |
Assessment: | A two-hour examination paper at the end of semester, a tutorial problem sheet, laboratory reports of up to 15 pages each. | |
