Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should:

  • be able to interface memory and simple peripherals to microprocessors;

  • be able to write microprocessor programs in assembler;

  • be able to analyse and design sequential logic circuits.

Content:

Interfacing memory and simple peripheral devices to a microprocessor, Serial and parallel I/O. Program development using assembler. Design of sequential digital circuits including asynchronous systems, implementation of digital systems using programmable gate arrays.

Assessment:

A two-hour examination; practice classes, tests, assignments and project reports, not exceeding 20 pages.
