32 hours lectures/seminars and a full day excursion (7 hours)

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this subject, students should:

  • understand the application of engineering design methodology to natural resources engineering;

  • have experience in applying the methodology.

Content:

General issues relating to Environmental Engineering design:

  • engineering design methodology;

  • systems and optimisation;

  • economic analysis;

  • environmental and social considerations;

  • environmental impact statements and assessments;

  • public participation;

  • design projects.

Assessment:

Written reports and assignments not exceeding 50 pages.
