Objectives:

At the conclusion of this subject students should be able to analyse for the internal actions produced in determinate and indeterminate truss and frame structures and calculate the resultant deformations associated with a variety of loading states, using computer-aided methods of analysis.

Content:

An introduction to computer analysis of determinate and indeterminate truss and frame structures using matrix methods. Introduction to the finite element technique.

Assessment:

One two hour examination (85%) and practice classes and laboratory work.
