Objectives: | At the conclusion of this course students should be able to analyse for the internal actions produced in simple truss and frame structures and the resultant deformations associated with a variety of loading states. | |
Content: | Elements of structural behaviour. Basic modes of structural action. Analysis of statically determinate systems and stability using a variety of approaches. | |
Assessment: | One two hour written examination (90%), practice classes and laboratory work (10%), hurdle requirement of a pass in all Mastery Learning topics. Admission to the examination is conditional upon passing each series of Mastery Learning topics. Students may repeat topics each up to four times in order to gain a pass. | |
