Content: | Patterns of cash flow in a project, profitability, cash flow and the time value of money. Cost estimation. Alternative investments. Risk and uncertainty. Companies, partnerships, joint ventures. Sources of funds, shares, gearing, financial ratios. Balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash forecasts. Introduction to taxation. Elementary cost accounting, budgets and variance analysis. Scheduling, bar charts, simple critical path analysis. | |
Assessment: | A 2-hour examination at the end of semester. | |
