Objectives: | Students completing this unit will:

Content: | Hazards and Safety in the Process Industries - case studies. The responsibility of the Process Engineer for managing hazards, safety and the environment. Occupational Health and Safety issues. The anatomy of a process including basic flow diagram development. Examples of actual processes illustrated via visits to plant sites. Introduction to capital cost estimation and Process Economics. | |
Assessment: | three plant visit reports of no more than 3000 words will be assessed for 50% of the overall work. One 2-hour examination accounts for the remainder of the assessment. | |
