Faculty of Education

Music

Music and Music (Practical) subjects are offered by the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Education.


Bachelor of Education (Primary)

Music D1: School Music Studies (Primary) is available in 1997 to post-initial students enrolled in year 4 of the BEd (Primary) course.


Bachelor of Education (Secondary)

Students enrolled in the Music stream prior to 1993 must undertake the following core music studies: Music A1-1, Music A2, Music B1-1, and B3, Music C1-1, Music C3, Music D, Music (Practical) A1, Music (Practical) A2, Music (Practical) B1, Music (Practical) B2, Music (Practical) C1 and Music (Practical C2). In addition students must undertake at least one Music history or World Music subject in both the second and third year of the course. (Previously Music B2 and Music C2: Studies in World Music B and C.) The subject 106-283/383 From Rock to Rap: Cultural Formations can be taken in place of one of the Music History subjects.

Students who first enrolled in the Music Stream in 1993 must also complete the subjects Music A3, Music A21 and Music A24 in addition to the core subjects (with the exception of Music C3) listed above.

The following subjects are available to students enrolled in streams other than the Music stream: Music C3, C5, C6, C7, Music D and all Music History/World Music subjects.

The Music stream is currently being phased out. Third year Music subjects and Music C3 are available in 1997 for repeating students.

Students in the music stream and students undertaking general music studies should consult the method subject descriptions for details of prerequisites for music method studies.
