Handbook 1997 : Faculty of Education : Accounting
Accounting subjects are offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. The Accounting sequence is currently being phased out.
Accounting A1 and Accounting A2 are compulsory for all first year BEd (Secondary) (Business Studies) and BSocSc (InfoMgt) students. These subjects are no longer available. Accounting B11 - Financial Accounting 1- and Accounting B22 - Managerial Accounting 1 - are no longer available. Students needing to complete either of these subjects should contact the Faculty Office for advice regarding alternative courses of action.
C-level subjects are offered in 1997. The prerequisites for Accounting C-level subjects are appropriate B-level subjects. In order to be eligible for Teaching Method in Business Studies (Accounting), you must have completed Accounting A1, A2 and Accounting B11 and B22, or approved equivalent. The completion of Accounting C-level subjects will provide a three-year specialisation which is an advantage for those intending to pursue a career in teaching or business.
