485-440 Teaching Method in Health Education - Senior D

Prerequisite/s:

A pass in Teaching Method in Health Education - Junior C.

Pre/Corequisite/s:

(For each Teaching Method D) Satisfactory completion of Education Studies C, School Experience C and a minimum of 250 points credit in the course. Concurrent enrolment in Education Studies D and School Experience D12.

A 2-hour lecture/workshop session each week for a total of 15 weeks

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • develop and implement health education curriculum as outlined in the VCE Health Education Study Design;

  • deal effectively with work requirements and Common Assessment Tasks; and

  • access a variety of community health resources.

Content:

A detailed consideration of the VCE Health Education Study Design. Topics will include: course development; accessing community health resources; setting work requirements and Common Assessment Tasks; developing student skills of inquiry, decision-making and assertiveness.

Assessment:

Four assignments (25% each) based on the four VCE units, addressing different approaches to teaching and learning including work requirements and CATs. Students must satisfactorily complete all assignments and participate in classes.
