485-328 Computer Studies C6: Computer Graphics

Two 1-hour lectures and a 1-hour tutorial/practical class each week

Objectives:

On completion of the subject the student should be able to:

  • employ a variety of graphics programming techniques;

  • have the experience necessary to design and implement graphics applications software based on Apple Macintosh technology and using the HyperTalk programming language; and

  • have the experience necessary to design and implement software systems using the HYPERCARD development environment, with emphasis on interface design.

Content:

Topics include: the role of graphics in human communication, interactive computer graphics; HyperCard including user interfaces, object-oriented programming languages; graphics programming techniques; 2D and 3D systems and algorithms; graphics engines and interfaces; advanced graphics techniques; image processing.

Assessment:

A 2-hour examination (50%); tutorial sheets and programming assignments (50%).
