Prerequisite/s: | Single Method: Completion of three years of approved University language study at post-VCE level. Students with other qualifications will need to be assessed by a language department of an Australian University as being of equivalent proficiency. Double Method: Single method requirements in two languages. | |

Objectives: | On completion of this subject students should be able to:

Content: | A study of concepts and practices in second language teaching and learning, with emphasis on developing teachers as reflective practitioners, capable of fostering in their students communicative competence in a new language and of making the experience of language learning an educational one. Students will be introduced to commonly used texts and materials and will be taught a range of techniques for employing them. | |
Assessment: | Single Method: participation in class including completing nominated class tasks (30%); assignments totalling approximately 4000 words or equivalent for a practical assignment (70%). Double Method: assignments to be completed for both languages. | |
