Workshops, seminar presentation, individual and/or group work equivalent to four hours per week

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • reflect critically on meanings and values associated with drama/visual arts experiences and articulate the way these can challenge, shape and be influenced by prevailing values;

  • research drama/visual arts from a variety of past and present social and cultural perspectives;

  • implement drama/visual art in a range of settings for a variety of purposes; and

  • place drama/visual art within a total curriculum and educational context.

Content:

Investigation of national and international issues in arts curriculum education. Students will research and further develop their selected arts study using advanced techniques to express personal ideas, concepts and issues. Students will extend their knowledge of current arts education theories and plan, teach and evaluate a school based arts program.

Assessment:

Performance or folio work (40%); research project of 2000 words (30%); evaluation of school based program of 1500 words (20%); tutorial (10%).
