483-321 School Studies C40: Language Arts Program

Foundations in Language and Literacy, School Studies B33, B44, B55, or approved equivalent.

A 90-minute tutorial each week

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • develop a language program for a particular group of children;

  • demonstrate how the success of such a language programs depends on the structure, content, and the resources, of both the school and wider community; and

  • understand the links between school policy and programs, class programs and classroom practice.

Content:

Develops students' present understanding of language as a basis for Language Curriculum design; demonstrates how the success of such programs depends on the structure, content, and the resources of the school and wider community.

Assessment:

An assignment of approximately 1500 words (60%); a reading journal (30%); and one class presentation (10%).
