476-346 School Experience C

Note:

Students admitted to the course with credit may be permitted to enrol for School Studies B and School Experience C in the same year, but must complete School Experience B before commencing School Experience C.

Two fifteen day blocks of school experience normally undertaken in June and October/November

Objectives:

On completion of the subject, students should be able to:

  • demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum in practice and of associated teaching strategies and resources; and

  • demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the functioning of primary schools and of their relationships with their communities and other educational institutions.

Content:

2 x 15 day blocks of School Experience, normally undertaken in June and October/November. Through direct experiences, the subject provides for understanding and/or development of: functioning of primary schools and their relationships with their communities; curriculum in practice and associated teaching strategies and resources; refinement of personal professional skills through the implementation of planned learning programs for children which are extended in their educational scope.

Assessment:

30 days of supervised school experience (100%).
