Objectives: | On completion of this subject students should be able to:

Content: | Computers in the integrated curriculum. A critical evaluation of current curriculum software and strategies for software evaluation in the context of teaching and learning styles and CSF learning outcomes. Databases and spreadsheets for both curriculum and teacher administration purposes. Computers and problem solving. A practical introduction to LogoWriter/MicroWorlds and HyperCard; approaches and uses in primary curriculum. A brief overview of telecommunications, especially the Internet. Computers for special needs. Computers and the technology CSF. | |
Assessment: | Five assignments: evaluation of curriculum software; development of a basic Logo or HyperCard program; development of a unit using one application for curriculum purposes; a research project on the use of computers in a school; review of current literature on one software genre. Total 3000 words. | |
