Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • understand the impact of information and communication technologies on VET;

  • apply information and communications technologies in education and training settings;

  • evaluate the use of selected information and telecommunications applications, such as multimedia, CD-ROM, E-Mail, bulletin board, and the Internet; and

  • identify social issues associated with the use of information technologies in education and training.

Content:

The social implications of information and communication technologies within VET and the wider community - local, national and global; network communications in education and training, such as Email, bulletin boards and Internet; evaluating software for vocational purposes.

Assessment:

A class paper of 1000 words (30%) and an essay of 2500 words (70%).
