468-204 Collaborative Learning

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • articulate a coherent theory of collaborative learning;

  • apply the collaborative processes and leadership strategies required for effective group learning;

  • identify and resolve selected issues arising from collaborative processes; and

  • assess the strengths and weaknesses of collaborative learning processes.

Content:

Comparison of individual, competitive and collaborative models of learning and the identification of techniques and strategies for promoting effective team work; managing conflict and difference; the influence of leadership and group management on learning; and measures of effective collaborative learning.

Assessment:

A paper of 1000 words (30%) and an essay of 2500 words (70%).
