468-105 Planning and Delivery 1

Note:

Special Requirements: students in this subject are required to be able to complete a concurrent Workplace Learning Agreement.

Timetable:

Semester 1 and 2

Contact:

40 hours including a minimum of two hours per week for ten (10) weeks in an approved workplace setting

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • demonstrate understanding of needs assessment approaches and session design;

  • analyse selected training methodologies in terms of adult learning theory;

  • identify distinctions between participant assessment and session evaluation;

  • select and develop appropriate resources for workplace learning; and

  • facilitate learning for individuals and groups as required in their work place context.

Content:

Needs assessments, design options, elements of session planning, development and use of instructional aids, training/teaching practice; trainee assessment; session evaluation; theoretical underpinnings of session planning including communication and questioning strategies.

Assessment:

One portfolio relating theory to practice (50%) and one program or work unit equivalent to 1500 words (50%) each based on the Workplace Learning Agreement.
