468-103 The Work Context

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • understand work and vocational education and training (VET) from selected perspectives;

  • identify influences on forms of work and VET;

  • describe selected VET policies and structures at Federal, State and local provider level; and

  • understand their own workplace in relation to work and VET practice.

Content:

Forms of preparation for work and how these reflect the social, political and economic structures of education and society; an introduction to current VET policy and infrastructure at federal, state and local levels; exploration of the roles of professional groups within VET.

Assessment:

A report of 1800 words (50%) and an essay of 1800 words (50%).
