327-405 Special Topics in Employee Relations

Prerequisite/s:

Entry into honours program.

Semester 1 and 2

Classes totalling three hours per week throughout the semester

Objectives:

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

  • demonstrate a capacity to analyse and evaluate theoretical discussion on selected topics in employee relations;

  • analyse and evaluate research projects from the body of empirical research;

  • relate knowledge gained from analysis and evaluation of research to contemporary examples of employee relations issues, and comment critically on the issues involved.

Content:

Special topics will be offered which reflect the research interests and activities of departmental staff and/or visiting scholars. This would allow students to investigate in detail specialised topics which would not usually be offered as part of the Department's programme.

Assessment:

Assignments totalling no more than 2000 words (20%) and one 3-hour examination (80%).
