316-476 Special Topics in Economic Analysis

Prerequisite/s:

A three-year sequence in Economics.

Contact:

Three hours a week of seminars for one semester.

Objectives:

On completion of this subject students should be able to:

  • understand the main theories used in the study of the topics presented in this subject;

  • judge the usefulness and the limitations of advanced theory in these areas;

  • critically evaluate contemporary policy debates in the areas covered in this subject;

  • extend their knowledge of these topics via independent study and by taking advanced subjects in these areas.

Content:

Special topics may be offered from time to time which reflect the interests of permanent and/or visiting members of staff.

Assessment:

A 3-hour examination (80%) and class assignments of up to 2000 words in total (20%).
