306-469 Advanced Topics in Accounting and Finance

Prerequisites in any year will depend on the content and topic under examination. Students must gain the permission of the coordinator before enrolling in this subject.

Three hours of seminar per week (or equivalent)

Objectives:

On completion of this subject a student should:

  • be familiar with the contemporary research work in the particular field of expertise of the presenter;

  • understand both the background and the direction of future research in the particular area examined.

Content:

Content will vary according to the expertise of the particular lecturer, but will cover contemporary research developments in topics such as corporate finance, cost and management accounting, financial accounting/audit and information systems.

Assessment:

The equivalent of 3000 words of assessment which may take the form of an open book examination or some suitable substitute.
