Handbook 1997 : Faculty of Arts : Biology
The subjects under the Biology umbrella serve to introduce students to modern concepts in biological science, the study of life. In addition to emphasising the principles of the diversity of life, it uses the principles as a framework underlying the unity and diversity of life.
Biology is only offered at first year level for students in the Bachelor of Arts degree. The Botany summer subject 606-207 Flora of Victoria is offered at second-year level.
Students undertaking the Bachelor of Arts are normally permitted to enrol in approved subjects offered by other faculties. However, there is a requirement that students complete a minimum of 50 points at first-year in departments within the Faculty of Arts.
Combined course students will not normally be eligible to enrol in these subjects: please consult with an Arts Faculty Course Adviser for further information.
