920-256/356 Spanish 2 SAP/3 SAP: Spanish Study Abroad Program

Four hours per day intensive language course in Spain for four weeks as well as one 1-hour lecture and one 2-hour seminar per week

Objectives:

Students who complete this subject should:

  • have improved their accent, fluency, vocabulary and cultural knowledge of Spain with first hand experience.

Content:

The Spanish study abroad program is run under the auspices of the Prince of Asturias program organised in collaboration with Auckland and Monash universities. Students undertake an intensive four-week language and cultural immersion program in Spain under agreements negotiated with the Complutense University of Madrid, the Xunta of Galicia and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Students are responsible for their own personal expenses with respect to travel and accommodation.

Assessment:

Three 15-minute, 750-word seminar papers (30%); two 2000-word essays (60%); class participation (10%).
