196-309 Social Work Theory and Practice 1

Subject Description:

This subject introduces students to the theory and skills that underpin social work practice. Students who complete this subject should be able to articulate the purposes, value bases and requirements of the professions, demonstrate their familiarity with a limited range of theoretical perspectives related to the practice of social work, and integrate this knowledge with interpersonal and reflective skills at a level sufficient to enable them to begin to work as supervised student social workers in organisations in which social work is practised.

Assessment:

Written assignments of up to 5000 words or equivalent.
