Prerequisite/s: | Approval of Departmental Coordinator except if undertaking 4th Year Honours in Criminology. | |
Contact: | The equivalent of 9 hours per week field work and meetings with supervisor/s as required. | |
Subject Description: | Students undertake a research placement with a criminal justice or related agency. The student undertakes a 'mock' consultancy with the agency and prepares a report for the agency based on research undertaken. In doing so the student will have gained an understanding of the necessary skills in policy analysis and applied research, as well as gain some insight into the operations and practices of the agency. | |
Assessment: | Up to 5000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6000 words at 4th year level. Assessment may also include an oral presentation to the agency and/or student peers of the major findings of the project. | |
