Subject Description: | Policy options in policing the nascent world order; conditions for the rise of criminal law. UN structure; the shifting of sovereignty from nations to the United Nations. Rights and wrongs as declared by the UN. The evolution of UN peace-keeping, control of arms, drugs, trans-national commerce, the environment, Australian Antarctic Territory. A UN criminal code and court; regularising the Bosnia and Rwanda tribunals. Sanctions: 'preventive or enforcement action...such action as may be necessary.' | |
Assessment: | Up to 5000 words of written work at 3rd year level and 6000 words at 4th year level. An examination may be substituted for part of the written work. | |
