Subject Description: | Review attempts in Australia to apply criminological theory in policy contexts. Reform issues covered include public drunkenness, family violence, workplace harm and other white collar crime, illicit drunkenness and the sex industry. Emphasis is on making students aware of the relevance of broader social theory (e.g., feminism, Marx, Weber, Durkheim, Foucault and Habermas) for understanding contemporary controversies and debates. | |
Assessment: | Up to 5000 words of written work. An examination of up to two hours may be substituted for part of the written work. | |
