Completion of any 1st year Linguistics subject (preferably Communication across Cultures).

Subject Description:

Introduction to the study of the cultural domain in languages of modern and traditional societies, ways in which culture is represented in language and the role of the cultural component in language.

Assessment:

Three practical assignments and an essay to a total of 5000 words.

Prescribed Texts:

Readings prepared by the Department.
