175-221/321 Russian Linguistics

Beginners Russian B, VCE Russian or equivalent.

Objectives:

By the end of the subject, students should:

  • be able to demonstrate a firm understanding of the relevant areas of the Russian language;

  • be able to describe particular sections of the system in appropriate linguistic terms;

  • be able to relate the Russian system to other languages that they have studied.

Content:

Russian phonology, morphology and morpho-phonology.

Assessment:

Regular assignments and two 1-hour papers, totalling 5000 words.
