Subject Description:

An introduction to the principles and techniques of a formal syntactic theory/theories as applied to the analysis of English; to syntactic argumentation; and to current issues in syntactic theory.

Assessment:

Regular assignment problems, a mid-semester examination and a take-home examination, totalling 5000 words.
