Subject Description:

The sound distinctions occurring in human languages; basic articulatory, acoustic and auditory phonetics. Students will develop skills in perceiving, articulating, and transcribing speech sounds. It also includes discussion of some approaches to phonological analysis.

Assessment:

Regular practical assignment problems and a project paper, totalling 5000 words.
