175-107 Introduction To the Study of Language II

No special prerequisites. It is not necessary to know a language other than English to study Linguistics.

Two lectures and a tutorial a week

Subject Description:

An introduction to the nature of human language. Students will develop skills in analysing and describing languages. The course takes a look at syntax, semantics, pragmatics, psycholinguistics, and historical linguistics, as well as selected topics in applied linguistics.

Assessment:

Regular problem-solving exercises and a 2000-word essay, totalling 4000 words.
