Content: | This subject looks at the controversies within feminist theory over issues of sexuality and the body. It examines the approaches of radical feminism, psychoanalytic feminism and postmodern feminism to such issues as pornography and prostitution, lesbianism and heterosexuality, cosmetic surgery and body modification. It will consider the usefulness of the ideas of gender, choice and transgression, whether the body is real, and what constitutes sexual violence, through the work of Catharine MacKinnon, Judith Butler, Susan Bordo, Carol Pateman and many others. | |
