166-108 Contemporary Political Ideologies and Movements

Two one-hour lectures, one one-hour tutorial per week

Content:

Is socialism dead? Can the Greens fill the gap? Is there too much political correctness? Survey and analysis of contemporary social and political movements emphasising class, gender, race, the environment, and sexuality. The subject will examine the ideologies of movements, the historical context in which they arise, and the consequences for politics.

Assessment:

Written work totalling 4000 words.
