166-106 Introduction To Political Ideas

Two 1-hour lectures and a 1-hour tutorial per week

Content:

An introduction to political ideas through critical reading of a select number of classic texts which have shaped political thinking and raise current issues. Topics covered will include the nature of politics and political power, the origins of individual rights and private property, the design of constitutions arguments about democracy and liberal capitalism.

Assessment:

Written work totalling 3000 words, and a 1-hour written class test totalling 1000 words.
